„Brain drain“ and it‘s impact on lithuanian labour market

After becoming member of EU, Lithuania experiences the same emigrational processes, which Western Europe has already experienced. Lithuanian citizens have broader possibilities to find their niche not only in Lithuania, but also in other EU countries, and it has effect for further employees’ emigration. There are still international job market liberalization processes going on and Lithuania has not just emigrational, but also very important “brain drain” problem. It means that the best professionals leave the country searching for better jobs, so the intellectual capital decreases. General increase of living standard in the country and solving economical and social problems depends upon effective usage of the most productive part of the society. The goal of the research: analyze “brain drain”, the reasons and influence on Lithuanian job market. Object of the research: “brain drain”. Hypotheses of the research: 1) Motives of professional workers to emigrate might be different; they could be trying to reach different goals and expectations, the main reason-economical motives. 2) The main factors, motives, demands, which motivate specialists to stay in Lithuania-dominating demands at individual level. 3) Motives, that influences specialists’ choice to leave and work or study abroad or to stay in Lithuania-dominating demands at corporate level. Master thesis has three parts. Theoretical part has literature review on international emigrational phenomenon –deals with conception of “brain drain”, its forms of display and the main features. The main emigrational models and theories are discussed, reasons influencing “brain drain” and possible outcomes to countries and persons are analyzed; presumable solutions to the problem are given. Analytical part deals with the above mentioned points in the theoretical part, but they are characteristic to Lithuanian job market namely. Results of the research are presented in the third part of master thesis. The research was carried out in 2,5 months, results and conclusions are also given. Results and conclusions part represent the most important theoretical, practical and research points. Master thesis has 78 pages, 25 charts, 22 figures
